OK, this makes sense for profiles where you actually use the B2A
direction.
In input profiles, you don't. I'm aware that the ICC v4 spec allows
for (or even demands?) B2A tags in input profiles, but if anything,
I'd think it would be these which follow the A2B tags (to provide the
inversion you describe), and not the other way round. So in the case
of input profiles, it's still not clear what the original task of the
A2B tags is.
For an input profile, the A2B0 tag can be used to create a more
pleasing image. For example, a digital camera profile cam pump up
the saturation and contrast in the A2B0 tag
Sounds pretty random and not exactly like the preservation of color
which I thought color management was all about, but in the end, maybe
that's the reality ...
