The ICC spec allows for different A2B tables to permit users to take
an image in and out of that colorspace without changing the original
color content. In other words, A2B tables are supposed to be the
inverse of the B2A tables.
OK, this makes sense for profiles where you actually use the B2A direction.
... not even then really IMHO:
Suppose the B2A0 tag of printer profile A compresses the PRMG to fit
into printer A's gamut without clipping and its A2B0 tag inverts this
transformation.
Now we have a profile for printer B (with a different gamut shape) that
does basically the same.
What we expect when we convert data from printer A to printer B is a
clipping-free transformation that utilize the whole gamut of printer B
-- but that's not what we get.
