Thanks to both Thomas Kunz and Tom Lianza from X-rite for jumping in to clarify the situation somewhat.

The recommended end-user price for the "OBC module" in US is $ 300. This is
an upgrade for the installed base of iSis/ProfileMaker or
iSis/MonacoProfiler users. New iSis units being produced and sold from now
on do include the Charts already and the software can be downloaded when it
ships (target is end of June). Also - at Drupa - we have launched new price
attractive bundles that include an iSis or iSisXL with a choice of
ProfileMaker5 Publish or Monaco Profiler Gold plus the new OBC Module.

Best regards, Thomas

The process requires a set of reference plaques that utilize media from our Munsell group. It is not simply a software program. That is why there are still some unknowns about cost and availablity, but the fact that this will cost something should be considered axiomatic.
With respect to utilization of press media, I don't think that the process will require a press run. Remember, it is the strength of the brightener used in the paper itself that is being measured. The key to the process is the visual evaluation under the illumination of choice. I know that it works across multiple printer types/ technologies when printed on the same media, but I'm not sure if we have run any press tests yet. In any event, it is a great improvement over earlier techniques.
I am certainly glad that I don't have to deal with that issue in most of my work...
