I fully agree with this – with one constriction though. If you print
images with vastly different black generation parameters on one and
the same sheet, you will drive the print operator nuts! If he tries a
small correction in color, the non-GCR images will react heavily, the
GCR images nearly not at all.
So, try to have a unified separation strategy for images on the same
page, if not the same publication.

I think not. In fact I agree with your assertion that different
images can
optimally benefit from differing K generation parameter settings.
My point
is that all the Profiles built with these various K schemes should
share
one trait - that they be smooth & continuous in all their
separations. To
be otherwise, i.e. to have abrupt transitions or discontinuities,
would
most likely cause noticeable artifacts in the print.
