I think not. In fact I agree with your assertion that different images can
optimally benefit from differing K generation parameter settings. My point
is that all the Profiles built with these various K schemes should share
one trait - that they be smooth & continuous in all their separations. To
be otherwise, i.e. to have abrupt transitions or discontinuities, would
most likely cause noticeable artifacts in the print.
