Hi Paul,

An introduction to digital camera colour processing (including discussions of both camera-rendered images and unrendered output) can be found in Chapter 12 of the Digital Color Imaging Handbook (CRC Press). The authors are Ken Parulski and Kevin Spaulding of Kodak, and the article is entitled "Color image processing for digital cameras". With some digging you may be able to find it published as a separate article.
