Hello Yves,
Unfortunately, I am not aware of using abstract profiles
on OS level. Only Apples ColorSync filters on Mac OS,
and some printing RIPs can use them at the moment.
Can you tell us a little bit more on what you are going to do?
If I understand you right, you want to insert a PCS -> PCS transform
into a normal conversion from PCS to Device.
PCS -> PCS -> PCS -> Device
Your task sounds very similar to the one we solved for
DeviceLink profiles.
We use a special approach in basICColor demon
for using DeviceLink profiles, in this case not by
inserting a conversion, but exchanging a conversion.
By using our own OS compliant color management module,
these DeviceLink conversions are usable in every application that
allows the selection of the CMM to be used (esp. all Adobe apps).
Feel free to contact me (off-list) if you have further questions.

Hi,
I need to create something like an abstract profile or a single one
way
transform from PCS to a specific device using a LUT model.. But
especially
for the abstract profile, I can't seem to find info to be certain
that most
color management system on most platform will be able to apply a
profile of
this type. Since I need to write the profile myself, it would be
simpler to
create an abstract profile then an output profile. Most likely the
profile
would be applied from Photoshop or some similar software.
I would appreciate any suggestion and or link to the info I'm
looking for.
Thanks in advance,
Yves
PS my application is not really a color management solution, I
would be
using a color management approach to make the transform I want to
create
more universal to apply and without having to write a program.
