Yes, exactly. Scott has it right.
What would any of us recommend to any colleague who were to ask us which
professional-level profiling package they should purchase?
Would you feel comfortable telling them to buy ProfileMaker or Monaco
Profiler? I wouldn't. My confidence in the company is slowly but steadily
eroding, and I certainly don't wish to feel like I'm giving potentially
harmful advice to those who ask for my informed suggestion.
The unanswered questions from X-Rite are accumulating: are they still
committed to professional color management? Or are they too deep into their
ongoing (and probably largely self-inflicted) financial troubles to be still
significantly committed to anything that doesn't make piles of money? (And,
someone correct me if I'm mistaken, color management products have never
been a big money-maker. Their market is not that large. So, what is their
future when a very demanding bottom line becomes the unrivaled big
"decider"?)
After two years of deafening silence about all this, where do we stand
regarding X-Rite as users of professional color management products?
