Thank you for this. One additional question, if I may:
Is this behavior unique to InDesign, or does Illustrator behave similarly
when printing to RGB printers?
I haven't found anything in AI that might be analogous to InDesign's "Print
as Bitmap" option.
I have noticed that when AI builds files in say, US Sheetfed, Coated CMYK
space, and printing to RGB (Epson) printers, it seems impossible to get the
output to include white point simulation (i.e., AbsCol > RGB printer profile
doesn't do it).
