Chris:
The View Angle Color Shift phenomena you describe is common with PVA
or S-PVA and Wide Screen technology. CHROMiX has tested many monitors
and found that even so, the CG241W still exhibits the least amount of
this View Angle Color Shift of anything comparable in its class. Some
other models that we tested (not naming names/brands) experienced
significant shift with only an inch off viewing-center in any direction.
The best current technology for lowest View Angle Color Shift on LCD
screens has been IPS or preferably S-IPS technology (so far). None
better than the Eizo CG211.

I've just taken delivery of my first EIZO Color Edge CG241W monitor.
It's
beautiful, and after setting it up and profiling it using my DTP-94
and
Color Navigator, I settled in happily. However, as soon as I got up
and
walked away, to the side, I noticed a drastic shift in color. This
does not
happen with my CG211 monitors, or my Apple Cinema Displays. This is
unexpected, to say the least. On-axis, the color is excellent,
matching my
proofs on my GraphicLite box quite closely, but off-axis the color
deteriorates very rapidly. I thought that this was something that
had pretty
much been solved in high-end LCDs, but apparently not. Or did I get
a bum
one? Anyone else noticed this?
