Hi Chris,
What you notice is nothing unusual. It´s simply because the CG241w uses a
Samsung S-PVA panel. Your older CG211 uses a Hitachi AS-IPS panel while the
Cinema Display uses a LG S-IPS panel. IPS is known to be superior in respect
of color stability but is comparably slower than VA or TN.
The viewing angle values on the datasheet cannot be used as a guideline, as
they only tell at which maximum angle the contrast does still keep at least
a 10:1 ratio. On-axis, your contrast is something like 1:240 (120cd white /
0.5cd blackpoint = 1:240). But this values des not tell anything about color
shift behaviour.
There is even a better technology available: IPS-pro. These panels are used
in medical applications and offer superior on- and off-axis stability at a
high price.
I hope that helps.
Regards
Raimar
