That's somewhat difficult when you're using the Laptop to drive the
software to calibrate the display.
Why? As long as the resolution isn't too low you can look at the
projected screen, click and proceed as you'd like.
Here's a little hidden goodie: when you are in clamshell mode you can
open the laptop to use the trackpad and keyboard without causing the
laptop screen to come back on. I'm actually doing that as I type right
now. So you can do this even if you don't have a separate mouse.

It's less elegant because you have to hold or tape it but I've done
several side-by-side comparisons that demonstrate superior quality by
using software other than EOM/beemer.
The Spyder3 Elite is also notable because it comes with a holder that
has a tripod mount on the bottom. Great device at a great price. Can
be used with Spyder3Elite software, CEDP, and some other OEM solutions.
