RE: Roger's Amen, below.
Betterlight Camera Calibration, as disclosed in this user group, is an
interesting workflow solution. Conceptually, it appears to be a modest
subset of a more sophisticated multi-spectral solution proffered by Roy
Berns et al in the '02 technical report "Imaging at the National Gallery of
Art, Washington, DC." Part of the Art Spectral Imaging project.
So the Amen is a bit premature. Or, actually, a bit late, if you start the
clock at the Berns disclosure. As to the more inflammatory statement,
"spectral imaging at its best," ouch, what was disclosed and discussed via
this user group was not spectral imaging. Commercially available Betterlight
Cameras are good, but, are they, or can they ever be spectral imagers,
absolutely not.
