Like everything on Bruce's site, that's a great link -- thank you so much.
But, Bruce's calculator does not take calibrated luminance into its
equations, as far as I can see.
He has, on the one hand, input levels, calculated from the measured "native"
monitor gamma. And, output levels, on the other hand, calculated from the
calibrated gamma. (it could be measured too -- does not have to be
predicted)
In effect, what Bruce's calculator is showing numerically is don't change
the native gamma of a monitor if you want to preserve the maximum calibrated
levels. But I fail to understand where the calibrated Y comes into the
equation. It must be something obvious?
