Christian,
Whatever profile you start from is cleared by EyeOne Match during the
calibration process (no curves in the graphic card -- just linear output).
So, it does not matter which profile you start from. What matters are the
aimpoints you introduce in the calibration procedure (luminance, contrast,
and color temperature being the principal ones).
The choice of a white point native to your display is a valid option.

Is your EyeOne Pro spectro positioned vertically straight? It reacts to
polarization in the display in any position other than perfectly vertical.
Also, if the display has on-screen controls for brightness, R-G-B signals,
etc., you can also lower the luminance by lowering the individual outputs
for the R-G-B signals, rather than by means of the brightness slider.
At any rate, a reading indicating high luminance on your spectro in the
presence of what visually appears to be low luminance would probably
indicates some kind of error somewhere in the procedure. I would make sure
that I am setting my target aims accurately and also reading the on-screen
values accurately. Something may be amiss.
