Todd,
I believe the "tolerances" are in the Proofing Certification PDF to

These are the tolerances used by IDEAlliance to certify proofing

Hi Roger
Oh, sure, I COULD use the SWOP proofing system certification
tolerances. Or I could use the ISO 12647- tolerances (which I do). Or
I could use the partial list of tolerances listed in the 2007
Guidelines & Specifications book. Or I could make up my own
tolerances, because THERE ARE NO OFFICIAL TOLERANCES for certifying a
given proof to SWOP or GRACoL. You can generate a sticker that
indicates how close your proof comes to a given spec, but you can't
say it is "certified" or "official", just that it meets your own
personal requirements.
...And the Max deltaE cannot be more than 6 for 95% of the patch.
And the avg delta for all the 1617patches cannot exceed 1.5...
There are a couple problems with using the the proofing system
certification tolerances, and one of them is they require the full it8
chart - real world proofs are only going to have the IDEAlliance
ISO12647-7 Control Strip or the FOGRA Media wedge, which makes the two
tolerances listed above hard to hit. When you are talking about
average dE, control strips give much higher weight to primaries and
gray patches than a full 1617 patch set would, so one or two bad
patches could throw you out of tolerance where they wouldn't if you
had more patches to sample. That is part of the reason IDEAlliance has
stated that proofing system certification tolerances are NOT
appropriate for certifying individual proofs, and why they conducted
the proofing study.
We anxiously await the results of the proofing study!
