Well, there's a bit more to it than that. As well as assigning an
arbitrary profile you would need some control over the colourspace
that ACR was rendering the numbers for, to put that profile in
context.
Yep, that's what I meant with "assign" in this context. Basically, the
capability to use an ICC profile as a drop-in replacement for an Adobe
camera "profile" in the proprietary Adobe format.
