You can make custom profiles for ACR/LR. So, end of story I hope?
Define profile. Under the hood, there are profiles being by the
Adobe products.
A camera profile is only a camera profile if its something based on
the ICC spec for camera profiles?
Nope, not at all.
Can I export that profile and take a look at it's characteristics such
as gamut volume etc.?
How about charts? Can I use charts/targets other than a MacBeth
ColorChecker?
I think Uli has made a pretty good case that possibly ACR/LR is
lacking within the parameters of what he set out to show and that if
they were a bit more open maybe things could be improved. I just took
it as an interesting study worth consideration and not that he was
slamming Adobe products or singling them out. If it's about "show me
the data", it sounds like he's done his homework...or not. Hard to
tell at this point since his article is less than accessible due to
the language barrier.
Anyway, I could give a rat's about the conclusions for the most part
since I'm perfectly happy using Aperture and LR, but it's an
interesting experiment for those interested in color management.
