Somehow I missed this (I use CaptureOne most of the time). But
still I would like to go to CMYK directly...
That's a Photoshop task.
I don't agree. It depends on the workflow and environment. Going to
CMYK directly saves your image from losses and color changes due to
the RGB->CMYK translation. If you know how your image will be printed
and you are sure that you don't need media independent files this can
be a very valid path.
I doubt you'll see LR or ACR support direct conversions to CMYK
anytime soon, nor should it really. Support to catalog those files I
think is a possibility, conversion, I doubt it.
OK
But for now, any RGB output color space is fair game.
When you are able to print all those RGB colors on your printer or
need a media independent workflow, then you are correct.
When you are not, or when you know your print process at RAW
conversion time, you add an other step of color adjustment and delay
to your work load.
