But, in your expert opinion, if I may ask, is the use of eciRGB v2
in the prepress,
studios and printing houses with which you are familiar with,
wherever they
are located, very widespread?
I would say yes, as far as I can judge for the mostly german,
some european users and clients I know. With one restriction:
They must have at least some insight on color management.
I rembember that a lot of people were unshure what to do
as eciRGB v2 came out, but at least as the eci made the guide:
keep your old files as they are, and use eciRGB v2 for your
new files, many switched.
I understand eciRGB v2 uses L* as opposed to the regular 2.2 gamma.
It is D50-based as opposed to D65.
And it has very wide primaries. Not as wide as ProPhoto but wider
than sRGB,
eciRGB v2 is print orientated, and is the same as eciRGB v1,
except the tone reproduction curve L*, which means:
D50 whitepoint as common in the printing industry,
primaries that can represent common printing conditions.
