I've noticed the same problem with profiles that I built with
ProfileMaker. I t started when I upgraded to ColorProof 3.1. I've
tested this on several different printers, mostly Epson 4800 or 4880,
and they all show this problem with dark areas. The colleagues that
I've spoken to have also seen this problem. And no changes in ink
limiting seems to help.
I went back to the built-in profiler in ColorProof, ColorManager and
got much better results. I recently did a test with the new
Basiccolor Print and the results were promising. I would prefer to
use an external profiler because of the limited choices of profiling
charts in ColorManager and to have the possibility to average several
readings.

Profilemaker does a perfectly fine job and does not "fall apart in

you're setting up PM.
OK then "Mr Certified Installer" you tell me the absolute optimum
profile settings for a 9880 that needs to match ISO Coated v2 and
I'll build and test yet another profile against the vanilla Argyll
profile built from the same data and send you the results.
I've tried multiple profiles output fro
