I think you meant to say "Source Profile", not Destination. The
destination profile in an EFI RIP is the same as the "Paper Profile".
I believe the source profile in an EFI RIP is also called the
"Reference Profile".
It's going to be difficult to say the least to try and compare the
workflow between EFI and, say ORIS Color Tuner or GMG Colorproof that
use a kind of "device link" profile. Totally different approaches. At
least in the case of GMG, the "profile" has both source AND
destination information available. You've got a table of source CMYK
and L*a*b* values ("Target" values) plus CMYK output values for the
inkjet device. GMG gets the information for CMYK output values from an
attached "Gamut" file that is a CMYK->L*a*b* LUT for the printer+media
combination. CMYK output values for the inkjet are calculated between
the source L*a*b* and the gamut file L*a*b*. Once calculated, the
results are printed/measured/compared to the target L*a*b* and
adjusted as necessary (rinse and repeat until done!).
