Edmund,
If the software and hardware guys suggested a method for assessment of
camera color and converter performance, ............
I would be surprised if they didn't have such methods, but since they are in
competitive businesses, they are hardly likely to divulge them or their
results, are they?
What is going on here is that the press is hiring consultants to
assess the camera color, and you're calling the consultants
unflattering names.
I thought this thread started with the press consultants mocking Adobe's
scientists? :-
"Looking at Adobe apps, I have my doubts about the smartness of their
engineers"
"I strongly dislike the behavior of Adobe as a
company, which from my POV has largely taken over the former role of
Microsoft as the behemoth that tends to suffocate progress, albeit in
a more defined area. It depends on your concept of "smartness" whether
you think that a "smart" person can possibly work in such a company;
in a narrow sense of purely technical "smartness", that's most
probably the case. But I would not accept such a person as an
authority, in particular, I wouldn't accept such a person as an
authority on the topic of proprietary vs. standardized technology,
which is what this discussion was partly about."
"One fact that everyone -except apparently Adobe- agrees on is that
there are both esthetic and exact aspects to Raw rendering."
And this from someone who also said "Until a year ago, I had no idea about
color management at all,................ ".
Since we now seem to have come full circle, isn't it about time this thread
was put to rest until Uli has published the full details of his tests for
all to read? What's the old saying - "the devil is in the detail" ?
Over and out!
Bob Frost.
