Hi Neil,
<<I have to say, I am all for ICC profiling , even with camera profiles.>>
I am too, but I would quickly move on, if only I could find something better
for my workflow.
<<Adobe have always supported ICC, in some cases pioneering the ways for us
to use ICC.>>
Indeed they have been the leader in color management, ICC or otherwise, and
we should appreciate that better than we do.
<<One thing though if you could, I'm a bit confused to how input profiles
like
scanner profiles V2.1 and V4 fit into the output referred. IS this to do
with the profile being created with an output referenced medium?>>
Basically, yes. I'm not expert about scanner profiles, but for camera
profiles, many developers who only provide one rendering intent want the resulting
colorimetry to produce a preferred reproduction of the scene (output-referred)
for their reference medium. For v2 profiles, most do this using just one RI and
a presumed reference medium. For v4 this is most properly done with the PRI
and the PRM or preferably, PRMG.
