Martin, I forgot to mention - perhaps a useful detail, in the case of colour negs, the most "pristine" state in which they can be rendered is as a negative and linear.i.e. a negative colour image unreversed, the possible advantage being that I can "reverse" it to taste using some published techniques with Curves (usually in Lab mode). As an off-side, I've played with this option and haven't been able to easily achieve the same quality reversal as Silverfast does internally using "Negafix" - Silverfast's canned "profiling" solution for colour negatives (no IT8 targets available for negs).
