I am aware that the HDMI output of cable, satellite, and DVD systems do
not have a LUT. However, HDMI is a digital interface. So, there is no
reason why a computer with a standardized LUT cannot generate the proper
test signals needed to calibrate the HDTV monitor. They are just numbers.
If it is possible to calibrate an HDTV monitor with a low cost
colorimeter, why should we pay $3,500 dollars for ColorFacts? It seems
to me that a computer with DVI could act as a test generator. If this
is true, then you could read the output of the colorimeter and adjust
the proper controls to a objective standard.
Can someone tell why this is not possible.

Given these facts...Is it possible to write software to put a
standard
LUT in my computer's graphic card and to drive my HDTV monitor

colorimeter? It would then lead me through each adjustment on the
HDTV
monitor. If this is possible...Why has no one done it?
I take it you did not look at ColorFacts and other Home Theater
software from Datacolor, as I suggested at the time, or you would see
that this is not a new field. However, most Home Theater is not driven
through video card LUTs, so thats not the route used for Home Theater
calibration.
