Leopard cured those issues for me (Epson 9600 and 9800). The problem
previously was that one misplaced mouse click... you didn't have to
change a setting... just touching the right one would wipe out a set
of saved settings you had chosen. However you couldn't tell that it
had happened unless you manually paged through the various setting
pages... or waited for a really bad print to exit the printer. I got
in the habit of clicking the saved setting choice right before hitting
the print button. No problems if I did that. I do some work at
schools with Mac labs printing to Epsons. I've seen the same behavior
there on pre-Leopard systems. We train them to make the last thing
they touch before the print button the saved settings selection and
all is fine. Leopard seems to have pretty much done away with this
issue but I still habitually click the saved setting before "print".
