Has anyone seen the mysterious camera calibration solution at the
Betterlight booth at Photokina?
Yes, I visited Robin at Photokina on Saturday. Very impressive !
Basically it is a solution to capture real world objects (like art
paintings) with a digital camera.
What is unique is that it is possible to optimizing colors with an
EyeOne on a per shoot base.
Simply use the EyeOne to read colors at random spots on the real
object, drop the readings
into Robin's software and let it do it's magic. Robin displayed a
couple of paintings and their
reproductions printed on an HP inkjet. They were perfect matches, all
created in a simple
workflow without editing !!
Everyone serious in art reproduction should have a look at his solution.
