Hello Joseph,
the DeviceLink CMM is part of basICColor demon.
The DeviceLink CMM replaces a "normal" source to destination profile
conversion
by a DeviceLink conversion, if this conversion has been defined in
the basICColor demon
main application as a "set".
By this approach, DeviceLinks can be used with Photoshop, Acrobat,
InDesign and Illustrator.
Even Photoshop CS4 profilts from using it, as it provides the
assigning (and later embedding) of the right
(destination) profile. Using the DeviceLink CMM is not restricted to
using CMYK -> CMYK DeviceLinks,
but supports mostly all color space DeviceLink conversions.
BTW. I have just released basICColor demon 1.1 for Macintosh, which
adds support
for Abstract Profiles as an intermediate profile (source -> abstract -
> destination).
Also, I provided a mechanism for supressing unwanted conversions. For
example, currently we are having
a problem with two different versions of the ISOcoated v2 (ECI)
standard offset printing profile, which lead
to unwanted re-separations taking place silently. With basICColor
demon, this issue can be resolved.

I am using the new Convert to Profile using Device Link in

Can anyone explain what this engine does differently than the
others in
converting from CMYK to CMYK?
