I agree with Todd Shirley on this one and would attribute the success of this to circumstance. I can't see how measurement is going to consistently agree with visual analysis with substrates with varying amounts of optical brighteners, hence the point of the visual analysis in OBC. Visual analysis would be more subjective, but given that there isn't a fool proof method for quantifying the amount of optical brighteners in paper with current instrumentation, and that ambient lighting is totally neglected in measurement, I can't see this being a solution that works in all circumstances.
