Bottom line, then, is that the file is *not* "converted to the tagged
profile".
In that case is it converted to the profile assumed by the RIP if the latter
is different from the tagged profile? Or is the tagged profile simply
stripped off the file and the profile in the RIP simply assigned to it
instead? (Which, while it would preserve the CMYK numbers, including
black-only objects, would wreak havoc on the overall intended color
appearance.)
