This coming year I am giving away my 'gold standard', Mitsubishi 2060u
to a friend and colleague.
70 cd/m2 has been my illuminance since 1999, beginning with my pair of
LaCie 19blue's. I have been comfortable with this for years with
darkened studio.
I learned this at Ivey in Seattle during classes and seminars. Long
time ago I know.
I keep 70 cd/m2 on the extremely inexpensive LCD monitors I use for
the PS tools. Yes, I do create custom .icc profiles for these
cheepooo displays. And they absolutely do not match my gold standard.
The 2060u is getting to the point where 80 cd/m2 is not obtainable.
I have tried based on discussions from some on this list.
Roger: Quoting you: the replacement better not cost the same price
as the original,
otherwise it does not make sense to buy such expensive monitors in the
first
place. Please explain what you mean.
Bob: I appreciate you giving validation to low luminance values.
I have been criticized for my use of 70 cd/m2 and when attempting to
rise above to 120 cd/m2, i get myself into trouble print soft proofing.
What do you mean by, and I quote: shall be at least 80 cd/m2 and
should be at least 120 cd/m2?
I have no idea what my new display will be. I do wish to have the LED
backlight!
Cheers
