Sorry Dan, that last email wasn't for your situation. As for making a PNG from a Movie still, why not just save a screen grab? Shift-Command-4 then SpaceBar and tap on your movie window saves a PNG file that looks exactly the same in Preview and PS as the movie does in Quicktime Player. At least it does for me running 10.6.2. Try that and let us know what you think.
