Dot simulation is not a requirement for a SWOP-certified system. Hearst and Donnelly will have to speak for themselves, but very few printers still insist on halftone proofs. Make the most color- accurate SWOP3 or SWOP5 proofs you can and submit them with proof of colorimetric accuracy. This will thrill your printers.

Hello List,
Happy New Year to all.
We're in the process of evaluating Inkjet/RIP bundles for SWOP
proofing. I've noticed that SWOP's Hard Copy Certifications page list
systems that do not have the option of dot simulation. How important
is dot simulation to being A) SWOP certified and B) to simulating the
press (specifically when submitting editorials to places like Hearst,
RR Donnelley, Quad, etc).
Thanks in advance.
Vanita Cyril
