Hi everyone,
I have an interesting problem, one which I am sure has affected many
people.
And, I am slightly embarrassed to bring this to the group, but I can't
figure out how to solve my problem.
I have an Epson 9600 printer. I have been printing to that printer for
over a year, with reasonable success.
I printed one of Bill Atkinson's test targets the other day, and then
made a profile for the printer using an Isis spectro and ProfileMaker
Pro.
In an analysis in ColorThink Pro, I notice that the gamut of colors is
surprisingly small, much smaller than other profiles I have made in
past years on this printer and a 9500 I had before.
I am printing with one of the Gutenprint drivers.
I decided to download from Epson the "latest" drivers for my printer,
and install an official Epson printer driver.
But, on the Epson site, they make a disclaimer that the software (in
essence) does not support all functions of the printer, and will not
work well.
So, I downloaded the disk image and have not installed the driver yet.
I am running an Intel Macintosh with System 10.5.7.
What I hope to learn from you in the ColorSync community is:
1. What printer drivers do you recommend for an Epson 9600 with
Ultrachrome Ink (Photo Black),
and,
2. If you recommend the Gutenprint drivers, what settings (sorry,
there are hundreds) do you recommend to get the largest gamut of color
possible on this machine with these inks.
I thank you in advance for your input on this issue.
Brian
