The white point of FOGRA39L is 95, 0, -2; so again a bit lighter
than you cited.

I should have thought about checking the white point data for these
profiles online. Good to know that even though my proofs (FYI, GMG
250gsm semi matt paper, Epson 9880, Basicolor Catch) are a tad on the
dark side, the colour balance is very close.
Trimmed off the extra paper, helps a lot. Its tricky when you show
proper cmyk proofs to photographers they tend not to like what they
see. And they would rather hand in something to the magazine that
"looks nice" rather than being necessarily accurate. Prob. not so much
of an issue at Repro houses, but in a retouching environment, some
clients seem to want a nice visual rather than accurate.
Thanks again (for the wealth of helpful knowledge)
Graeme
