It not only "helps": it's *necessary*. You are simulating the results on a paper whose white point is different from that of the paper you are using for the inkjet proof. You *must* trim the unprinted eadges, or else the viewer's vision will adjust for the brighter white, and the print will seem "dingy".

That's an uneducated reaction. They don't know what the limitations are for the print conditions. So, it's our job, in production, to tell them that we are doing the best that can be done under the circumstances. In other words, to educate them. Either they trust us or they don't. So it's better to create an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect for each other's strengths.

Again, they must be educated. That sounds condescending, but it's not. What good is it to lie to the client by overpromising and underdelivering? What does it gain anyone?

Again, what is the point of having a "nice visual" that "dies" once it's printed? That's what these people just refuse to understand.
