Some really interesting perceptual stuff goes on in that range; for one

well ... this "lightish warm gray" seems to bear a striking resemblance
to a (light) skin tone. Skin tones are very important memory colors. And
memory colors have a strong bearing on color perception and color
constancy as is known.
