It's not too hard , if it is display , or imaging then with BPC, on, and
when proofing another device on your printer BPC must be left off while
using Relative Colorimetric.
What BPC does is ( well a quick explanation) scales the darkest end in your
source color space to the darkest point of your output device from a
calculation based on the output devices information in the profile.
When BPC is on it does scale large differences well to maximize your output
devices potential yet if the source is similar to the output device as most
modern inkjets are, there isn't that much difference.
Where it really shows is when turned off and you're proofing a weaker black
like offset it maintains the weakness and prints the black and darks as they
are in the source space.
Adobe has a white paper on BPC which is very detailed if you want to know
more, even the math behind it.
