Sections 6.3 and the beginning of 7 in the Adobe BPC White Paper explain how the mapping is done between source and destination profiles and the BPC performed. Insofar as Adobe is writing about how their products are designed to work on this regard, it would surprise me if it were only "fine theory" without operational signifigance.

Graeme,
I'm sure that you mean to make a valid point here, but so far it escapes me.
Properly done, RelCol + BPC *does* map source black to destination black.
That's not just a "fine theory". I've done it and seen the results
first-hand countless times.
Would you please care to bring up a practical example, detailed and
repeatable, that illustrates your point in terms that we can all understand?
Again, I have no great interest in points of theory made without concrete
examples which back them up.
Thank you.
Marco
