Tom,
The reason this discussion is getting out of hand is that a
considerable number of readers on this list are unhappy.
HP (and Xrite) did not listen to their customer base, and made
commercial and support decisions which have compounded the failings of
the product.
The main design error was not specifying uniformity as a deliverable.
Conventional panels do not have the same color uniformity issues as
LED backlight panels. Varietur, specifying the changed display
qualities would have helped in not disappointing the buyers.
The commercial errors were:
- Not keeping track of uniformity as the devices left the factory,
doubtless because of an unwillingness to invest in a video
colorimeter.
- Deciding not to support the EyeOne Pro in the calibration software
bespoke to this device. I am sure you will agree that this was not
exactly helpful to the members of this community.
The support errors were refusing to admit that a uniformity issue
affected the customers and needed to be adressed by support. Sending
customers panels as swapouts that had been refused by other customers
did ot exactly fix the issue.
Tom, I have the greatest respect for you. However if you want to fix
a problem you'll have to admit that it really is a problem.
