Hi
My experience of using Colorimeters vs. an Eye One Pro for monitor profiling
boils down to the gamut of the monitor.
Wide gamut monitors, those which approach 100% Adobe RGB, need a sprectro to
achieve the most accurate profile when validated using UDACT or Bodoni
ViewSign.
For monitors with a lesser gamut, such as Apples, a colorimeter will produce
a profile which is as accurate and often more visually pleasing, yes, I know
this last statement is subjective, but it is what my clients 'see'.
