I'm sad to say, but my Sony Artisan has died. So I'm in the market
for a new monitor. But I'm not actually seeking advice regarding
this decision.
Instead, my question revolves around how to calibrate the new
monitor on an old computer, which is an Apple with OS9 that I use
to run my Howtek 4500 drum scanner with Trident. Up until now, I
was using the software and colorimeter that came with the Artisan,
but that won't be the case anymore. So I'm stuck. I haven't been
able to find any software/hardware combination that is OS9
compatible. Can anyone offer some suggestions?
You could try this (but I don't guarantee it will work):
Calibrate and profile your monitor while connected to a Macintosh
running Mac OS X; then connect the same monitor to your Mac running
OS 9; copy the monitor profile from OS X onto the Mac with OS 9,
place it in the ColorSync folder and activate it.
As long as (1) you don't make any changes to the OSD settings on the
monitor and (2) your monitor profile is v2 (not v4), it might just
work.
