Creating and using Quartz filters

Hi everybody.

I have joined this forum in what I hope is not a vain attempt to solve some fundamental problems with color management in OSX.

I have attempted to duplicate and correct the Create Generic PDFX-3 Document filter.

I am trying to correct The Destination Profile, Trimbox, Bleedbox, Flatten Transparency Resolution and make it Trapped.

I hit several obstacles.

a. It won't let me change its name to something descriptive. I edit the name and it flips back to Create Generic PDF-X Document Copy.

b. It drops all the changed settings and ends up a duplicate of the original.

	c.	Most painfully it persists in rendering transparency at 72dpi.

I have explored all the documentation on ColorSync I can find and am shocked at how old it all is.

	1.	Has anyone succeeded in changing and renaming any of the filters?

	2.	If so can they outline the steps to do this?

	3.	Can you point me to usable documentation on ColorSync?

3. How do you contact someone at Apple who can throw some light on how this is supposed to work?

Peter
