You have a light touch, Bob. A delicate way of making your point.
I'm a scientist; I'm used to separating facts from non-facts, and calling a
spade a spade.
.................
I state facts. You could challenge what I state, but you prefer to change
the subject and talk instead about how many people use VISTA and how well
it works in your opinion. The fact still remains that VISTA was pulled out
of the market. You can't challenge that.
I can and have done, but you choose to ignore the real facts, presumably
because, as I think you said, you have no experience of Windows, just as I
have no experience with Macs.
If you look at the timeline of Windows releases since 1985, you will see
that new versions have come out at 2-3 yr intervals on the whole. The gap
between XP and Vista was 5 yrs, partly because x64bit versions came out
during this time, and partly because Vista was a major rewrite. The gap
between Vista and Win7 was back to 3yrs, and I understand Win8 is scheduled
for 2012 - another 3yr gap. So no signs there of Vista being 'pulled' any
earlier than other releases.
I don't deny that some did not like Vista; many things in it were a major
change from XP. Some of these unpopular changes have been softened in Win7,
but it is still the same underlying OS as Vista, but with a few new
enhancements.
Is this so different from the progress of the Mac OS? I seem to remember
that the big jump from OS9 to OSX was not greeted by all Mac users with
cries of delight? And I think that all the early releases Cheetah, Puma,
Jaguar, and Panther were all replaced (or pulled?) after only 12 months?
Only Tiger and Leopard have been strong enough to survive 2 yrs?
