I guess WCS will get to maturity eventually. I remember thinking it is
a much better design than Colorsync, except that the profiles computed
by the system are not exposed, so other manufacturer's software will
not be able to match the WCS renderings. But I guess Adobe etc could
overload the WCS renderings with their own engines as this is
specifically designed into the system.
