I totally agree Marco....if I had the choice between a .50 dE proof (GMG?) and a 2 dE proof (uh...others) that I'm going with the tightest tolerance proof I can just to ensure that the proof stays in the middle of the tolerance "sweet spot". But my reality check is that, in the end, I'm sending a proof out to a process (pressroom) that can't hold a tolerance from *sheet-to-sheet* during a press run that I'm able to hold on proof over weeks/months. But you're right, having the tightest "reasonable" tolerances that you can is always better as it just removes that as a possible variable.
What's the old saying?.....
Measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an axe. :-)
