Yes, subjective evaluation, albeit important, can also be a slippery slope.
True, the clients MUST feel satisfied that they are getting what they are paying for, but it's often necessary to alert them that proper evaluation of results also has a comparative and objective side to it, which is the only area in which two or more people can possibly agree with some measurable certainty, given that subjectivity is by definition unmeasurable and often even impossible to convey.
It's extremely disruptive and unproductive to keep saying "no" to a result based on solely subjective criteria, without being able (a) to articulate WHY to others who work with us on a project, and (b) to negotiate practicable solutions.
The "slippery slope of endless frustration" -- well, let's call it that until I find a better name for it... :-) -- starts when a client is unable to express what he/she is unhappy with with some degree of objective detachment, and/or is unable or unwilling effectively to comprehend and evaluate the available options.
You know, the "client from hell"... :-)
