I agree with Martin. I would add that if people don't know or understand why prints should be viewed under D-50-like standard lighting, then they should be told or reminded. If they still don't follow instructions, the instructions should be repeated. Sometimes it becomes an exercise in patience, but one must keep at it.
To make an example, very few uninformed souls would claim that listening to stereophonic music on two tiny 1-inch speakers connected to an iPod constitutes what could rightfully be called a "hi-fi experience" -- but the awareness of standards such as those in hi-fi listening is just not as widespread among the wider public when it comes to the field of color.
Reminding our customers of correct viewing procedures is as much OUR responsibility as production specialists as it theirs as clients to understand and accept that not meeting those standards invalidates the proper evaluation of the results.
