I don't know if the PA series has it, but the NEC xxxxW series had a setting in the onscreen menus called something like (Colorcomp) that helped considerably with across screen uniformity. Does the PA241 have this and have you tried it yet?

Thanks for that. Yes the uniformity control is set to its maximum of 5. The screen has improved over the last 24hrs having now done about 18hrs running time. The blotchiness has disappeared and it is more even but still has a distinct red/magenta tinge over about 1/3 of its area. Still has a lot of improving left to do!
